Vitamins Do B Vitamins Cut Heart Attack Risk? |
According to a study presented by Professor Kaare Harald Bonaa, of the University of Tromso in Norway, at the European Society of Cardiology congress, the answer is no. Homocysteine is an amino acid that has been linked to inflammation in the blood vessels and felt to be a risk factor for coronary artery disease. Because B vitamins have been shown to lower homocysteine levels, it was felt that giving B vitamins could lower heart attack risk.

Weight Management A Low-Fat Vegan Diet |
Scientists at the George Washington University School of Medicine published a study last month in which they examined a group of 64 postmenopausal overweight women. They split the women into two groups and placed each group on a different diet. The first group was placed on a low-fat vegan diet and the second group was placed on a control diet modeled after the NCEP (National Cholesterol Education Program) diet advocated by the American Heart Association.
